As many of you know, we are currently in the midst of the 31st Summer Olympics. America is leading the charts in the medal count with new Olympians emerging in every event and records constantly being broken. Among those we have seen something very special this year from the women of the US. America's female Olympians are dominating in nearly ever category, not just with medals but with records and firsts of their time. We think these girls are fierce and we wanted to take some time to spotlight our favorites!
There is no denying that Simone Biles has taken the 2016 Olympics by storm. Despite gymnastics already being a fan favorite, Simone has truly taken things further by being one of the first gymnastics in quite a while to truly dominate the sport being "unstoppable". Her medals so far include Gold in the Team All Around, Individual All Around, Individual Flood, Individual Vault, and Bronze for Individual Beam. We can't wait to see what Simone will continue to do on and off the mat.
Katie Ledecky is another young Olympian taking her sport further. She is most noted this Olympics for her World Record time in the 800M Freestyle leading by 12 whole seconds. Incredible! Katie says she wants to continue to inspire young girls to get into competitive sports and swim their hearts out. Her medal count for the 2016 Olympics includes Gold for the 200M Freestyle, 400M Freestyle, 800M Freestyle, 4X200M Freestyle Relay and Silver for the 4X100M Freestyle Relay.
Kim Rhode is a force to be reckoned with. Uniquely, her sport is typically considered solely a man's pastime. She competes in the Women's Skeet Shooting division. This year Kim walked away with a Bronze in the Women's Skeet. What makes Kim so awesome however, is the fact that she has consistently medaled in the 6 Olympics that she has competed in making her the first to do so this Olympics and also the first women to have ever achieved 6 consecutive Olympic medals. You go Kim Rhode!
Michelle Carter is a beast with a ball. She is a first in her sport of shot put. Michelle took home the Gold in Women's Shot Put making her the first women to bring home Gold for America. Using her Olympian status as her platform, she is encouraging young girls to go after what they want. She is also a promoter of body confidence, saying be true to yourself and your beauty!
Sarah Robles is an incredible women, incredibly strong that is. She is the strongest women in America due to her recent Olympic Bronze medal in Women's Weightlifting which is American's first weightlifting medal in 16 years. Sarah, much like Michelle, shares the body positive message. Being a weightlifter, her body is considered "un-femininie" but she wants to let girls everywhere know that that is simply not the case. She celebrates her self and her femininity everyday stating that she is who she is and that is beautiful.
