This year's New York Fashion Week was nothing short of AH-MAZING. There were highs and lows..literally. Thousands of beautiful dresses danced down the runway and even some inspiring stories emerged. Here's our low down of what we loved at #NYFW.
See Now, Buy Now
Several brands including Ralph Lauren (pictured above), Tom Ford and TopShop Unique featured a new business model this year. Direct to consumer purchasing. Usually, unless by special request, looks premiered at NYFW are not available for retail until months later depending on the season. This year, buyers were able to purchase collections immediately after the show. Is this the future of Fashion Week? We shall see!
One of our absolute favorite brands in the formal gown spectrum is Sherri Hill. The Sherri Hill runway was a show stopper as usual. The gowns featured florals, bright colors, dramatic backs and two pieces. Our favorite part of the show were the adorable mini models that completely ruled the runway. We can't wait to feature more Sherri Hill Dresses on BBD.
Overcoming It All
The most inspiring story hit the runway this year when 19 year old Reshma Quereshi stepped out on the stage. Reshma was attacked in the face with concentrated sulphuric acid at the age of 17. Her face was permanently disfigured but that doesn't stop her from being fierce. She walked in one of India's top designers, Archana Kochar's show. Reshma continues to fight against the sale of sulphuric acid all with a beautiful smile on her face.
