You Know We're All About That Bass

You know what gets us really excited?! Besides connecting our community with glam dresses (obviously), one of our founding missions is to further the message of body positivity. We’re determined to help girls identify with beauty just how they are instead of trying to mirror a society expected version themselves. Don’t get us wrong, the Kate Upton’s of the world are jaw dropping gorgeous, but so are the contestants of American Beauties Plus Pageant who work on beauty as a platform for inner and outer strength.
Over the past year, I’ve definitely noticed a boost in women taking a stance against the excesses of Photoshop and masking what someone really looks like. Take a look at this music video from Colbie Caillat for example where everyday women strip off their professional hair and makeup to reveal an unedited self. The point is, while I was be-bopping in the car to a cute song, I noticed that some messages are radically different today than they were 20 years ago. Speaking of the video above, I’m contagiously happy about the fact that a 16 year old can talk about her booty, booty as a positive and healthy change from an expected size 2. So, the next time you hear Ms. Meghan Trainor sing about her bass on the radio, join in the movement of creating a fun place for young ladies to grow up without thinking of their size as the most important factor in their life.
Take Care,
P.S. Can we get a shout out for the dancing guy in this video?!
